Executive Summary:
BACKGROUND

The State Water Study Commission was continued pursuant to House Joint Resolution No. 67 of 1983 (see Appendix A). New to the Commission this past year were Delegates A. Victor Thomas and William P. Robinson, Jr. Mr. George M. Cornell, who served the Commission ably for several years, retired July l; his position as ex-officio representative of the Water Control Board was filled by Millard B. Rice.

Delegate Lewis W. Parker, Jr., and Senator Charles J. Colgan were re-elected by the Commission as its chairman and vice-chairman, respectively.

1983 ACTIVITIES

During 1983, the Commission considered these issues: the regulation of water wells and water well drillers, the interbasin transfer of water, amendments to the Groundwater Act of 1973 and the financing of capitol projects for water supply and wastewater treatment needs.
