HD17 - Planting Opportunities on State Lands

Executive Summary:
The 1990 General Assembly passed HJR 114 requesting "the Department of Forestry to inventory and study all state-owned property to determine the necessity, desirability, and feasibility of planting trees on such properties". State lands have been evaluated with the cooperation of the agencies, institutions and departments owning land. Planting with Department of Forestry seedlings is recommended on a total of 846 acres. In addition, the planting of 18,833 ball and burlap trees (2" to 3" Caliper) is recommended.
