HD86 - Funding for the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries
Executive Summary: House Joint Resolution (HJR) 552 (Appendix A), introduced during the 1997 Session of the General Assembly, requested the establishment of a joint subcommittee to study the long-term funding options to meet the capital and operating needs of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF). Consistent with the recent policy adopted by the House Committee on Rules, the Speaker of the House of Delegates referred the study to the Chairman of the House Committee on Conservation, who, after consultation with the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, created a joint subcommittee to study the matters provided for under the resolution. The seven-member subcommittee was composed of five members of the House of Delegates and two members of the Senate. Delegates A. Victor Thomas and Raymond R. Guest, Jr. served as chairman and vice chairman, respectively. |
