HD34 - Report of the Virginia Commissioners to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws


Executive Summary:
The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) is now in its 111th year. The organization comprises more than 300 lawyers, judges and law professors, appointed by the states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, to draft proposals for uniform and model laws on subjects where uniformity among states is desirable and practicable, and work toward their enactment in legislatures. Representatives from Virginia are appointed pursuant to §§ 30-196 and 30-197 of the Code of Virginia. This report covers the 2001 calendar year and details the activities of the Virginia commissioners, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and the Virginia General Assembly relating to uniform laws.

The 2001 General Assembly enacted or amended the following uniform acts:

• Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act
• Uniform Probate Code (modified version of Section 6-101)
• Uniform Commercial Code, Article 9
• Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act
• Uniform Electronic Transactions Act
