HD63 - Report of the Virginia-Maryland-District of Columbia - Joint Legislative Commission on Interstate Transportation

    Executive Summary:
Since its creation in 2000, the Commission has met at least annually until its most recent meeting on September 24, 2003. While Commission discussions have covered a broad range of topics from highway congestion, directional signage, and additional bridges across the Potomac River to the need for increased federal participation in both Virginia's and Maryland's transportation programs, there has never been sufficient consensus to cause or permit the Commission to make specific legislative recommendations to either parent legislature. Since the Commission has not met in 16 months, it will neither be making legislative proposals nor submitting a formal, written report to the 2005 Session of the General Assembly. The Commission's current mandate extends for another year, and calls for it to complete its work by November 30, 2005.
