RD214 - Virginia Military Family Relief Fund (VaMFRF) 2011 Annual Report
Executive Summary: This fund has been available since fiscal year 2006, to assist all of the Commonwealth's citizen-soldiers serving in each of the reserve components. Increased awareness through Virginia National Guard Assistance Center outreach, marketing efforts and the support of the reserve component representatives serving as members of the Virginia Military Family Relief Fund Committee will enable the effective delivery of assistance to our deployed citizen-soldiers and their families. There were 19 approved applications that were each awarded $2,500.00 or less. Recipients were qualified as follows: 15 Iraq and 3 Afghanistan and 1 Kosovo. The total amount of assistance provided is $19,761.60 to the Virginia National Guard. The State Appropriation Act, the General Assembly approved that interest NOT be paid on the Military Family Relief Fund FY 12. That means the fund will increase only by tax donations during these 2 fiscal years (July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2012). Tax donations were $54,154.43. Approximately 2,500 National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are returning this year. We anticipate a large amount of grants to be submitted due to the current economy. |
