HD16 - Mobile Vision Clinics Pilot Recommendations (Chapter 552, Item 313.JJJJJJ., 2021)
Executive Summary: As directed through Item 313 JJJJJJ., Chapter 1289, 2021 Virginia Acts of Assembly, the Department of Medical Assistance Services (“DMAS") convened a workgroup inclusive of mobile vision clinic stakeholders with the goal of developing a pilot proposal for children in the Medicaid program. These meetings were each an hour and a half in duration and were held on June 29th, July 20th, August 19th, and September 9th. Participants included representatives from each of the six Medicaid managed care plans (Aetna, Anthem, Molina, Optima, United, and Virginia Premier); the Department of Education (“DOE"); school districts (Roanoke, Albemarle, and Chesterfield counties); mobile vision clinic providers (Conexus, Vision to Learn); DMAS; managed care plan vision subcontractors (VSP, EyeMed); and pediatricians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists. In the initial meeting, workgroup participants were invited to submit feedback detailing preferences and considerations surrounding the pilot option, and this helped shape ongoing discussion. At the final meeting, participants were asked to provide final feedback on the pilot options (see Attachment D). |
