The Board of Local and Regional Jails(*1) in consultation with a stakeholder workgroup reviewed the standards and requirements governing, and the application and use of, isolated confinement in local correctional facilities. The workgroup reviewed the standards independently and met to discuss the responses and recommendations. This report includes the stakeholder workgroup’s recommendations regarding the use of isolated confinement and a request for an extension of this study.
