Executive Summary:

The Department of Elections, pursuant to § 24.2-707.1 (B) of the Code of Virginia, submits the Standards for the Establishment and Operation of Drop-off Locations (Standards). The Standards address required drop-off locations, including hours of operation and required notices to the public, accessibility requirements, physical security requirements for both secured drop-boxes and staffed drop-off locations, chain of custody requirements, recordkeeping requirements, corrections or cures for voter errors in use of drop-boxes, and emergency considerations.
