The Virginia Tourism Authority (VTA) is pleased to submit the following report pertaining to the development of the recommended guidelines for the Virginia Sports Tourism Grant Program established under § 2.2-2320.3 of the Code of Virginia. The Program is intended to provide grants to develop and attract sports tourism activities to the Commonwealth. Over the past few months, VTA, in collaboration with an advisory work group comprised of representatives from major sporting venues, local sports authorities or departments, and the hospitality industry, has developed comprehensive program guidelines, an application with terms and conditions, a scoring sheet, and a post-event report document.
