RD129 - Sealing of Criminal Records Update – January 2026


Executive Summary:

Report on the ongoing study of the sealing of criminal records, including (i) identifying methods to educate the public on sealing eligibility requirements and processes; (ii) consultations with the Virginia State Bar and other stakeholders to identify methods to provide information, resources, and pro bono legal consultations and assistance with sealing to the public; (iii) to the extent possible, conducting trainings on sealing for stakeholders upon request; and (iv) reviewing any other relevant matters that arise during the course of the study.
