Item 267 C.3.b.iii, Chapter 1, 2026 Special Session I, Virginia Acts of Assembly requires the Department of General Services (DGS) to (i) perform a cost and design review for all jail and regional jail projects with a total cost exceeding $12,000,000 for which the State Board of Local and Regional Jails (the Board) has approved the construction request and submitted the project to DGS by July 1 for review, and (ii) inform the Chairs of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance and Appropriations Committees, the Department of Planning and Budget, and the Department of Corrections of the outcome of its review.

For the period ending July 1, 2026, the Board reported to DGS that it did not receive any projects for review and approval that had a total cost exceeding $12,000,000 and will not be submitting any projects to DGS for cost and design review during this reporting period.
