RD674 - Campbell County Public Schools Report on Accessibility Findings and Recommendations – October 24, 2025


Executive Summary:

Pursuant to Virginia House Bill 2278 (2025), Campbell County Public Schools (CCPS) conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the physical accessibility of all school facilities, including buildings and their surrounding grounds. This review addresses the following key areas required by the bill:

1. Identifying physical accessibility issues in school facilities and grounds.

2. Identifying barriers that hinder access to educational programs and student support services.

3. The school division's strategy for removing these identified barriers.

4. Ways in which state agencies can assist school divisions in improving accessibility.

This report confirms the following:

1. All CCPS facilities were initially built in compliance with the building codes and regulations of their time.

2. Any renovations, additions, or modifications have adhered to the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) and the 201 0 ADA Standards for Accessible Design that were in effect at the time of each project.

3. CCPS has an ongoing review process to monitor facility conditions and work towards full accessibility for all students, staff, families, and community members.
