RD768 - Falls Church City Public Schools – HB2278 Accessibility Report

Executive Summary:

In accordance with Virginia House Bill 2278 (2025), Falls Church City Public Schools (FCCPS) completed a comprehensive review of the physical accessibility of all school buildings and grounds for individuals with disabilities. In addition to this present-day review, FCCPS was able to consult the following independent reports:

• FCCPS FY23-28 CIP
• FCCPS FY26-31 CIP

As required, the review collectively addressed: (i) physical accessibility challenges in all school buildings and grounds; (ii) challenges in access to programming and support; (iii) the plan to eliminate barriers; and (iv) how state agencies can assist.

This report affirms that:

1. FCCPS facilities were constructed in compliance with the building codes in effect at the time of the original construction.

2. All subsequent new construction, renovations and additions meet current accessibility standards, including the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) and the corresponding required ADA Standards for Accessible Design during the renovation year.

3. FCCPS has annual processes that support our commitment to ongoing review and improvement.
